Chicago Ave Stop
Welcome to the website for Chicago Dramatists’ Blue Line Art Project.
As many of you know, the Chicago stop on the Blue Line is just a chip shot from our office door at the corner of Milwaukee, Ogden and Chicago Avenues. Two years ago, we decided to follow the example of other Chicago arts organizations by ‘adopting’ an El stop under the CTA’s Adopt-A-Station program.
With support from a grant by the West Town Chamber of Commerce, we hired Chicago artist and sculptor Peter N. Gray to design artwork that would reflect our vision – as well as meet CTA requirements – for the stop.
The Chicago stop is the gateway to West Town. We wanted to capture the corner’s unique persona, a vibrant mix of banks and pubs; restaurants and condos; and actors, students, and painters.
Peter N. Gray (www.metal-i-genics.com) is a Chicago sculptor and artist whose work is “designed to bring the artistic aspects of science (genetics, microbiology, physics), into everyone’s realm.”
He’s also a fan of Chicago Dramatists.
Chicago Dramatists would like to thank web developer Joe Grzesik
(Sesame), videotape editor Sharon Pearson, and board member Patrice Fletcher for the gift of their time and talents in creating this website.
